2016 Hermann Garden Tours
feature in-town, country sites
Event will be marking 22nd anniversary
For the 22nd Annual Garden Tour, set for June 4
and 5, 2016, the Hermann Garden Club will feature
two types of tours: the Town Tour, a walking tour of
lovely small gardens hidden behind houses in the
Historic District, and the Country Tour, a driving
tour to magnificent country gardens in the hills
around Hermann.
Tickets for the two tours will be sold separately;
each tour is $10. However, a Town & Country Combo
ticket will be offered for $15. Discounts will be avail-
able for groups of 10 or more if reserved ahead of
time.
Group Tour info/contacts can be found on the
Group Tours page on the tour website. Garden Tour
tickets and plants will continue to be sold at the
German School Parking Lot on Fourth Street from 9
until 4 on Saturday and 9 until 2 on Sunday. Gardens
open at 9 a.m. and close promptly at 5 p.m..
The special pre-tour Luncheon and Auction on
Friday is at the Historic Rotunda; this event requires
additional by-reservation-only tickets. Visit www.
hermanngardentours.com for up-to-date events, tick-
et prices, contact numbers and photographs of past

According to GardenTour ChairmanAlice Calhoun,
the gardens on the 2016 Tour will be exceptional, and
many will be new to the tour. Town Tour gardens
often are either lovely cottage gardens or riverview
gardens. Country Tour gardens tend to be much
larger than Town Tour gardens and have different
elements and features. Calhoun says, “To get an
overview of the beauty of Hermann’s gardens, visit
our website at
www.hermanngardentours.com. On
our website, you will see gardens that have been on
previous tours. And you will be amazed.”
The much loved Garden Art Flea Market will con-
tinue as part of the Plant Sale in 2016. There will be
many native Missouri wildflowers, herbs, and peren-
nial cultivars along with many tried and true plants
from our members gardens. The types of plants
offered can also be seen on the website.
The ever-popular Demonstration area will return
in 2016 at the Deutschheim State Historic Site. There
will be information about crop rotation, companion
planting, and heirloom plants. Visitors will also be
able to sample pink lemonade and lavender Springerle
cookies.
On the Friday afternoon before the tour (June 3), a
Silent Auction and Luncheon will be held at 11:30
a.m. at the Historic Hermann Rotunda. Guests will
feast on fried chicken and brisket while they bid on
auction items. Reservations are required and can be
made by calling (573) 294-6242 or emailing Bartow
Molloy at
bartowmolloy@centurytel.net. Visit the
“Hermann Garden Club Tours” Facebook page to see
pictures of the 2015 Luncheon/Auction.
Starting in mid May 2016, you can see items that
will be included in the 2016 Auction; new items will
be posted every week.
Hermann, named “the most beautiful city in
Missouri” and a Missouri DREAM city, has seven
wineries, over 50 bed-and-breakfasts inns, many
antique and specialty shops, and galleries. Plan to
spend the night and spread the tour over both days.
