Morristown Magazine 71 initiatives include pasture rotation, reseeding, and tree planting to im- prove soil health and sequester car- bon. There are GMOs in the feed, no pesticides or chemicals in the fields or feed, no antibiotics for the hens— nothing unnecessary for a healthy, delicious egg. On a pasture raised system, organic is the most sustaina- ble method of production. The pas- ture raised system requires at least 108 square feet per hen (an acre of land for every 400 hens) on rotated pastures. “We know Handsome Brook will continue this tradition of being a choice employer in our region and we welcome them to Morristown,” said Morristown Industrial Deve- lopment chair Jack Fishman at the company’s official announcement. “The Industrial Board also apprecia- tes Handsome Brook’s proven track record on food sustainability, and as the world evolves and grows, our future food production depends on companies like them. Morristown has enjoyed a long line of successful food manufacturing and processing companies and we welcome Hand- some Brook Farms to our industrial family.” Allie is a flock supervi- sor for Handsome Brook Farms SUPPORTIVE COMMUNITY As part of a regional group, each farm is supported by farm supervisors and experts, to create a community of mutual support, education and logistics.
