May 24, 1775, John Hancock was unanimously elected as the President of the Continental Congress. May 24, 1844, Samuel Morse sent the world’s fi rst telegraph that read “What hath God wrought.” May 25, 1922, Babe Ruth was sus- pended for one day and fi ned $200 for throwing dirt at an umpire.
