The Tigerettes used some small ball to set the stage for a big opening in- ning. After two bunts and a hit batsman loaded the bases, Marshall County scored three runs with Demiyah Blackman sup- plying the big hit with a two-run double. The score stayed 3-0 until the Viqueen bats got hot in the bottom of the second. A single by Taylar Wessner was followed by a two-run homer by An- nie Prince as Community pulled to within one at 3-2. The Viqueens weren’t through as a Gracie Daniel RBI-single tied the game at 3-3. The Tigerettes used an RBI-single in the third in- ning to take a 4-3 lead and extended the lead to 5-3 in the fourth with the help of a Viqueen error. The Viqueens fought back and tied the game with two runs in the bot- tom of the fourth. Haylee Webb singled and scored as Daniel drove in her second run of the game with a double. Alana Tate drove in a run with an RBI-groundout to tie the game at 5-5. An RBI-single in the top of the fi fth put the Ti- gerettes up 6-5 before Al- len’s theatrics in the bot- tom of the inning gave the Viqueens the lead. Brooklyn Yoes singled before Allen drilled the ball over the center fi eld fence to give the Viqueens their fi rst lead of the game at 7-6. An out at the plate kept Community from adding to its lead as the Viqueens took their one-run lead to the fi nal two innings. The Tigerettes threat- ened in the seventh as the tying run reached third base with two outs, but a soft liner was caught by Daniel at third base as the Viqueens took the win and avenged a Marshall County win earlier in the season. Prince and Daniel both pitched for the Viqueens with Brookelyn Nunley and Abby Leverette shar- ing pitching duties for the Tigerettes. The Viqueens had 15 hits, with Anna Haskins collecting three safeties while Daniel, Wessner, and Webb each had two hits. Kinley Wiser had three hits to lead the 8-hit Tiger- ette attack. Lady Rockets pick up 6 wins in weekend tourney STAFF REPORT B RENTWOOD — After nearly a week’s worth of rain outs last week, the Forrest Lady Rockets certainly got their fi ll of games over the weekend, going 6-1 in the Raptor Classic, hosted by Raven- wood High School. FORREST 3, CREEKWOOD 0 The Lady Rockets got o ff to a strong start, pick- ing up a 3-0 win over Creekwood on Friday evening. A Christa Warren RBI double put Forrest on the board in the fi rst and the Lady Rockets padded their lead with two more runs in the bottom of the second. Emory Hall went 2-for-2 to lead Forrest and Taylor Moreland took the win in the pitch- er’s circle. She pitched fi ve in- nings, giving up just three hits and struck out four. Creekwood 000 00 — 0 3 2 Forrest 120 00 — 3 4 2 Forrest: Maggie Daughrity 1-for-2, Christa Warren 1-for-2, Emory Hall 2-for-2. WP: Moreland. FORREST 1, BRENTWOOD 0 Forrest kept the shut- out streak rolling on Fri- day and edged a qual- ity Brentwood Lady Bruin team, 1-0. The only run of the game came when Tay- lor Moreland doubled in the bottom of the fourth, scoring Briley Burnham. Burnham went 2-for- 2, while Sarah King joined Moreland with a double. Ella Chilton took the win and spun a one-hit- ter, while striking out six. FORREST 5, HENDERSONVILLE 2 One big inning was all the Lady Rockets need as Forrest took down Hen- dersonville, 5-2. The hits fell in and Forrest put the pressure on Hendersonville with a little small ball tactics to start the scoring. Following an Emory Hall lead o ff single, Had- die Van Patten laid down a bunt and reached via error, before Maggie Daughrity followed with a second-straight bunt to score Hall. From there, a RBI single by Abby Ferguson and a RBI double from Christa Warren bumped the lead to 3-0. Lesli Bartoli later ground out to fi rst and tallied another RBI for Forrest before a Sarah King double plated teh fi nal run of the game for the Lady Rockets. Daughrity went 2-for- 2 with a double and a RBI to lead Forrest. Ella Chilton took the win in the cirlce and gave up two runs on fi ve hits with four strikeouts. WP: Chilton FORREST 8, LINCOLN CO. 0 Taylor Moreland pitched a shutout and the Lady Rockets backed her start with an 8-0 shutout against Lincoln County. After grabbing a 1-0 lead in the fi rst on a RBI single from Abby Fergu- son, Forrest played add on with a four-spot in the third and three more in the fourth. Of the eight Lady Rocket hits, three went for extra bases, highlight- ed by a Maggie Daughrity triple. Sarah King and Ella Chilton both drove in a pair of runs in the win. WP: Moreland FORREST 4, WHITE HOUSE 3 It wasn’t the clean- est of games for Forrest, having committed three errors, but in the end, a sac- fl y from Emory Hall was good enough for a 4-3 walk-o ff win against White House. White House grabbed a 2-0 lead in the top of the fourth, only for For- rest to tie the game in the bottom of the fi fth on a RBI double from Christa Warren. The momentum was short-lived as White House retook the lead in the top of the sixth on a squeeze, with White House starting the inning with a runner on second, as the tournament imple- mented international rules for extra innings. Although White House grabbed the lead in the sixth, Forrest im- mediately tied the game in the fi rst at-bat in the bottom of the inning. Sarah King slugged a double to deep left to tie the game at three. Ella Chilton then bumped King to third with a sac-bunt, setting the stage for a sac- fl y from Hall for the game- winner. Warren led Forrest, going 1-for-2 with a double and two RBIs. Moreland took the win in the circle, giving up just two runs on six hits with four punch outs. White House 000 201 — 3 6 0 Forrest 000 022 — 4 8 3 Forrest: Maggie Daughrity 2-for-3, Christa Warren 1-for-2, Briley Burnham 1-for-3, Sarah King 2-for-3, Emory Hall 2-for-2. WP: Moreland FORREST 7, BRENTWOOD 1 While their fi rst meeting against the Brentwood Lady Bruins was a one-run thriller, Forrest made sure there wouldn’t be a close second meeting with the 7-1 win. Forrest scored in every inning, highlighted by a four-run third inning to put the game out of reach. In total, the Lady Rockets connected on eight hits, with Ella Chilton’s two RBI double in the third being the biggest hit of the game. She also took the win in the circle, giving up one unearned run without giving up a hit. Brentwood 010 0 — 1 0 1 Forrest 124 x — 7 8 2 Forrest: Maggie Daughrity 1-for-2, Abby Ferguson 1-for-1, Christa Warren 1-for-1, Briley Burnham 1-for-2, Taylor Moreland 1-for-2, Ella Chilton 1-for-2, Emory Hall 1-for-1, Haddie Van Patton 1-for-1. WP: Chilton GREEN HILL 9, FORREST 8 A nine-run fourth inning was more than the Lady Rockets could overcome in their lone loss of the weekend as Green Hill edged out a 9-8 win over Forrest. The bats stayed hot for the Lady Rockets, who belted out 10 hits, half of which went for extra bases. Maggie Daughrity and Abby Ferguson both slugged triples, while Haddie Van Patton, Sarah King and Daughrity all connected on doubles as well. A nine-run fourth inning set the stage for a Lady Rocket rally in the bottom of the inning and although Forrest plated two runs and got the tying run at third, the Lady Rockets just couldn’t come up with the needed two-out hit to complete the comeback. Daughrity led Forrest, going 3-for-3, while King also recorded a three-hit game as well.
