The win sets their record at 2-0 and fi nds them ranked fourth in the state in the Tennessee Sports Writers Association Top 10 poll. Scoring started early for the Tigers as Ryan Scott rushed for a 54- yard touchdown two minutes into the contest. Whitwell quickly got the ball back. Senior quarterback Brandon Easterly wasted no time getting on the board with an 11-yard rushing TD midway through the fi rst. It was deja vu for Whitwell in the second quarter as wide receiver Bennett McDougal caught a 19 yard pass from Easterly and took it to the house two minutes into the quarter. With eight minutes left in the quarter, Easterly threw another passing touchdown, this time to fellow senior Wyatt Davis who scampered 25 yards for a TD. Halfway through the second quarter Adam McDougal caught a 41 yard TD pass from Easterly, making the score 34-0 at the half. Whitwell added to their score with a touchdown in the third when Bubba Smith got his fi rst rushing TD on the year with a 26 yard run. In the fourth quarter sophomore Tregon Kilgore scored on a two- yard rushing TD. Whitwell’s o ff ense exploded with 421 yards of total o ff ense. 288 of those yards were on the ground. Meanwhile the defense was also dominant as they allowed just three fi rst downs, 76 yards of total o ff ense, and forced two turnovers. Whitwell will travel on the road to Jo Byrns for their week 3 matchup on Friday, Sept. 6.
