Street Dance 2024 will be held by the Town of Monteagle on Saturday, August 31 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Harton Park. There will be live music, food trucks and Monteagle Fire and Rescue will have BBQ. Labor Day Parade in Whitwell will begin at 9 a.m. around the Race- way/Builtwell Bank area. Please use caution as you travel through the area that morning. The parade route will travel up Highway 28 and end at Whitwell Park. There will be no activities immediately following the parade. Everyone is invited to return at 5 p.m. for the Labor Day Event for the Whitwell Heritage Center (details below). Labor Day Event at Whitwell Park will be Monday, September 2. Gates will open at 5 p.m. Tickets are $10 each, ages 12andunder are free. There will be livemusic starting at 6 p.m. featuring Jesse Black and Silver Queen. There will be a kid zone with games and more. Names will be drawn for the Face- book Ra ffl e prizes and the funds raised will go to the Whitwell Education and Heritage Center. The Grand Opening of Life Recovery Cen- ter will be Sept. 2 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at 300 Cor- nerstone Dr., Jasper, cel- ebrating the opening of the new site. There will be light refreshments, community resources and center tours. There will also be a balloon release for those who have lost their lives to drug over- dose. StoryHour at Carolyn Stewart Public Library will begin Wednesday, Septem- ber 4 at 10 a.m. for ages 2 – 5. Childrenwill learn sim- ple exercises, fi nger plays and hear stories based on a theme for the day andmake a craft to take home. The hour-long program teach- es children to be creative, imaginative and be socially ready to interact with other children their age. Our goal is to help provide children with a stimulating envi- ronment where everyday sounds, letters, shapes, books, songs and rhymes are the key factors that help make connections that are basic for early learning.
