10 —Marion County’s Finest 2024 B eth Duggar is a dedicated community volunteer whose extensive involve- ment spans a variety of organizations, each contributing uniquely to the enrich- ment of her community. As a Tennessee Promise Mentor, she plays a crucial role in guiding high school students towards further education after graduation. Her commitment to community development is also evident in her work with the Mar- ion County Tourism Committee, where she helps strategize marketing efforts to boost tourism and generate revenue for the area. Beth’s connection to the National Cornbread Festival dates back to 1997, and she has served as President since 2013, significantly influencing the fes- tival’s success. Her leadership extends to her roles on the Board of Directors and as Treasurer for SPARQ (South Pittsburg Area Revitalization Quest) and AITB (Arts In The Burg), where she actively supports the revitalization and promotion of South Pittsburg’s cultural and artistic initiatives. In addition to her roles with SPARQ and AITB, Beth is a Board Member and Grant Writer for the South Pittsburg Ro- tary Club, where she has also served as Past President. She plays a vital part in various service projects and fundrais- ing efforts. Moreover, Beth coordinates the Tennessee Downtown Program and writes grants for South Pittsburg, fo- cusing on enhancing the town’s devel- opment and economic growth. Through these diverse roles, Beth significantly contributes to fostering growth, educa- tion, and cultural enrichment in her com- munity. Beth’s inclination towards volunteer- ing stems from her natural desire to help others and improve her commu- nity. This drive has been a guiding force throughout her life, leading her to estab- lish and support various organizations like SPARQ and AITB, which focus on revitalizing and promoting South Pitts- burg’s cultural and artistic life. Beth’s in- volvement with these initiatives reflects her passion for community service and her commitment to making a positive impact. Beth’s volunteerism has deep roots in her early years. Growing up, she was actively engaged in numerous activities, including the Girl Scouts, playing the flute in the South Pittsburg High School band, and participating in her church youth group. In college, Beth continued her service through a women’s prison ministry and a traveling singing group that promoted her college. Among themany influences inher life, Beth holds her grandmother, Evelyn Pur- sley, in high regard. Evelyn’s encourage- ment left a lasting impact on Beth, instill- ing in her a deep sense of responsibility and kindness. Another significant influ- ence was TeenaHewgley, who introduced Beth to the National Cornbread Festival and involved her in Marion County’s first “Three Star” program. These experiences, including meeting Brad Carter, further ignited Beth’s passion for community ser- vice and development.
