4A —Bedford County Post, Wednesday, September 4, 2024 ELECTION NOTICE A General Election will be held in Bedford County, Tennessee on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, between the hours of 9:00 am and 7:00 pm at the various precincts to elect the following: GENERAL ELECTION OFFICE TERM OF OFFICE Road Board Districts 1 though 9 4 years QUALIFYING DEADLINE: September 11, 2024, at 12:00 NOON To qualify, candidates shall file their original petition in the county election office where they reside by the qualifying deadline. The nominating petition must be signed by at least twenty-five (25) voters who are registered in the candidates’ district. Each voter who signs the petition must also supply his or her residence address. Petitions are being issued at the county election office during normal office hours listed below. Any person interested in running for office should contact the Bedford County Election Commission Office at 931-684-0531 for further information. Pursuant to TCA 2-7-133(i) and TCA 2-8-113(c) notice is hereby given that any person attempting to be elected by write- in ballots or receive a party’s nomination by write-in ballots shall complete a notice requesting such person’s ballots be counted in each county of the district no later than NOON, fifty (50) days before the election or primary election. Such person shall only have votes counted in counties where such notice was completed and timely filed. Write-in candidates in elections for the offices of Governor, United States Senate and United States House of Representatives shall file their notice with the state coordinator of elections. The notice shall be on a form prescribed by the coordinator of elections and shall not require signatures of any person other than the write-in candidate requesting ballots be counted. Last day for Write-in candidate to file notice: September 16, 2024, at 12:00 NOON. Forms are available in the Bedford County Election Commission Office. Democratic Party to meet The Bedford County Democratic Party will meet at 6 p.m. on Monday, September 16 at their headquarters in the Executive Building (yellow brick building next to the Fly) at 210 South Main in Shelbyville. Bedford County Historical Society Fall meeting The Fall meeting of the Bedford County Historical Society will be held in the First United Methodist Church Fel- lowship Hall on Monday evening, Sep- tember 16. A pot luck supper will kick off the evening’s festivities at 6:30pm, followed by a short business meeting at about 7:15pm and then the program. The evening’s program, “Preserving Yesterday’s Music for Tomorrow,” will be presented by Gloria Shacklett Christy of Murfreesboro, TN. Gloria created and has been the director of the Uncle Dave Macon Days Music Festival for 40 years. She is a regular contributor to local newspapers writing historical ar- ticles about the history of Rutherford County, TN. She served as educa- tion director for the historic Oaklands Mansion for many years. She and her brother Bill currently own and operate Shacklett’s Photography on the Square in Murfreesboro. Hosts for the September meeting are Don & Claudia Curl, Sarah Hill, Sandra Smith, Jimmy & Melissa Sim- mons, and Ryan & Jeannie Print. The public is invited to bring a dish or two for the pot luck supper and enjoy the meal and program.
