Bedford County Post

4A —Bedford County Post, Wednesday, June 12, 2024 Happy Father’s Day T his photo was taken on May 5th. It was taken at my son Luke’s baptism. He is being held by his father Manuel Rodriguez. This photo shows the epitome of love from a father. Since this photo was taken Manuel was involved in a tragic accident and lost his life on May 29. Dear Dad, W e love you dearly and are so grateful for all the sacri fi ces you make for us. You mean so much to us. Happy Fa- ther’s Day, we love you, always and forever. Love, Katerina, Cora and Christine Anthony Adcock has always been a hands- on loving, dad to Drew, Josh, Jake & Mazey Ad- cock. –Submitted photos by Mildred Floyd Michael Adcock has his hands full with kids and grandkids these days! Cary, Dylan, Alyssa, Carissa, Dakayla and all the grandbabies love him!!!! Richard Sudberry is a fun loving dad to Sadie, Ava &Wyatt Sudberry. T his year is almost half done. Here at the Bedford County Post we are wel- coming our fi rst summer at our location at 210 South Main Street. In two months we will celebrate our fi rst full year in August. I don’t know which is harder to believe in terms of time. It reminds me of this saying by the late author, poet and educator Judith Minty who said, “I give you this to take with you: Noth- ing remains as it was. If you know this, you can begin again, with pure joy in the uprooting.” That’s exactly what we did as a sta ff after being told abruptly and without cere- mony or compensation our services were terminated – immediately. Just whenwe wondered what might happen to each of us, Lakeway Publishers through the direction of Keith Ponder, stepped up and hired us all to be part of a new publication – The Bedford County Post. Lake- way also added new a pub- lication in Lewisburg with the Marshall County Post replacing the former news- paper that also terminated under the old owners. As a part-time sta ff writ- er I have been happy to be a part of the new endeavor here in Bedford County. I look around our newsroom and see somuch experience in Carol Spray and Mary Cook who make sure all of the little, and not too little, details of the paper come together in a way that not only looks good, but makes sense. I marvel how Diandra Womble is able to balance all of her administrative du- ties with both the Bedford County Post and the Mar- shall County Post while also fi nding the time to generate ad revenue. Chris Siers and his sports writing sta ff keep up a hectic pace. As Chris has pointed out there is a lull in the summer, but it isn’t long before August and football are back. Zoe Watkins, our just departed editor, stepped in and took over a great deal of responsibility. I have worked for or edited six-day, fi ve-day and two-day-a-week news- papers. Nothing is more challenging in my opinion than producing a one-day- a-week edition. Based on the feedback we receive we are doing a good jobwith our e ff orts. We are thrilled and proud when readers talk about our stories in person, texts or emails and even snail mail letters. Mixed with the praise are negative comments. That is just part of the territory. I have never really thought about retiring. I do something I love so why ever quit it? I hope and pray that I will be able to write for the Bedford County Post for many years to come as the newspaper continues to prosper. Journalism has been a good ride for me, whatever the vehicle I amwriting for. We are proud of what we are doing for the commu- nity here at the Post. Please make this trip with all of us. If you aren’t a reader or subscriber it is time for you to be a part of what we do. We will be happy to have you along for the ride. 7+( 5(*8/$5 0((7,1* 2) 7+( 6+(/%<9,//( 32:(5 :$7(5 $1' 6(:(5 %2$5' :,// 0((7 78(6'$< -81( # 30 $7 7+( 6+(/%<9,//( 32:(5 6<67(0 2)),&( 6287+ 0$,1 675((7 7+( 38%/,& ,6 ,19,7(' 72 $77(1' $1< $1' $// 0((7,1*6 $1<21( '(6,5,1* 72 &200(17 72 7+( %2$5' 21 0$77(56 *(50$1( 72 7+( ,7(06 21 7+( $*(1'$ 6+$// &217$&7 -$621 5((6( %< 1221 21 7+( '$< %()25( 7+( 0((7,1* PUBLIC NOTICE 6+(/%<9,//( 32:(5 :$7(5 6(:(5 %2$5'6 Manuel Rodriguez and son, Luke Rodriguez. –Photo submitted by Dana Rodriguez Brian Belden with daughters, Katerina Belden (age 16), Cora Belden (age 10), Christine (age 5). –Submitted by Bonne Belden Time passages T he Town & Country FACE club met at Can- non United Methodist Church on Monday, May 13, 2024 at 11:00 AM.
