Medical Guide, September 2023— 3 H arton Hospital (VTHH) recognized Kyle Stroud, BSN, RN, Intensive Care Unit, as their most recent DAISY Award recipient. A nurse at Vanderbilt Tullahoma – Harton Hospital is honored quarterly with The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses ®. The award is part of The DAISY Foundation’s mission to recognize the extraordinary, compassionate nursing care they provide patients and families every day. Nominations are made by patients, families, and/orcolleagues. The selected honoree, Kyle Stroud, received a certificate commending him as an “Extraordinary Nurse.” The certificate read: “In deep appreciation of all you do, who you are, and the incredibly meaningful difference you make in the lives of so many people.” As The Daisy Award recipient, he received a DAISY Award pin, A Healer’s Touch sculpture, hand-carved by artists of the Shona Tribe in Zimbabwe, and a special embroidered lab jacket. The nomination for Kyle was made by a long-time, highly respected community physician. A portion of the nomination read, “I have been a physician for over 38 years and have worked with many nurses in many situations. My family is extremely grateful for Kyle’s presence here!” Kyle’s unit manager shared, “Kyle is a team player. He is caring and compassionate, as a nurse should be, but he takes time and attention to be sure that patients are advocated for every step of the way.
