Fall Local Living 2023
Fall Local Living—13 Greeter Falls Trail B etween Altamont and Beersheba Springs, day hik- ers will find Greeter Falls Trail a welcoming place to visit. The trail is a 3.2-mile loop trail. Generally consid- ered moderately challenging, the trail starts out mostly flat as it passes through a shaded forest filled with oak, hemlock, poplar, maple, and pine trees. The trail’s surface is uneven with exposed roots and rocks, so ap- propriate hiking shoes are recommended. Continuing on, walkers will encounter large 40-foot sandstone cliffs rising along one side of the trail and a series of makeshift stairs. The trail gets steeper as it de- scends into the valley and to a fork in the path – choose between the upper falls or the lower falls. Located on the upper falls is a 15-foot tall waterfall. Its pool is up to three feet deep in some sections, swim- ming is discouraged due to strong currents and the lower falls located just downstream. A trek to the lower waterfalls and hikers will encounter a spiral staircase that descends to a series of wooden and metal stairs. Located there is a breathtaking 50-foot waterfall that one must see to truly appreciate. 239 COLLEGE STREET MONTEAGLE, TENNESSEE 37356 %XVLQHVV +RXUV 0RQ )UL D P S P 6DW BUILDERS SUPPLY OF MONTEAGLE 931-924-2048 /XPEHU (OHFWULFDO 3OXPELQJ 3DLQW 33* %HQ 0RRUH 0LOZDXNHH 7RROV +DUGZDUH
