CHURCH GUIDE Page 9 Monthly recognitions were made such as years of mem- bership, with Jean Horner (daughter of charter member Lida Moore) being the lon- gest active member with 73 yrs. that year. Many other recognitions were made throughout the year. All leading up to the very spe- cial 100 yr. Homecoming. However; midway through this celebration year tragedy struck. On March 29, 2020 light- ning struck our steeple and our church was destroyed by fire. As we were deter- mined to “Rise from the Ashes” and continue serv- ing the Lord, we worshipped together in the fellowship hall until our new church was built. On May 2, 2021 a ground breaking ceremony was held. Ground prepara- tion started the following day. Wild Construction and Builders for Christ worked together to build our new church. After over a year and many obstacles, God provided the exact construc- tion company and Christian volunteers we needed to build our new church. We have seen God’s handiwork and received blessing after blessing while our church was being built. On October 3, 2021 we had “Risen from the Ashes” and began wor- shiping the Lord in our beau- tiful new church. During the first year in our new church, 29 new members were added to the church. God contin- ues to bless Roe Junction Missionary Baptist Church. The current membership is 371. Our current pastor is Rev. Jason Lemka. The dea- cons of the church are Louie Spradling (Chairman), John Turner, Jake Anderson, Cory Smith and David Williams.
