Page 8 CHURCH GUIDE rebuild a new one using as much of the materials from the old building as possible. Mr. and Mrs. John (Pearl Brady) Hayes had pur- chased the old Roe Junction Schoolhouse, remodeled it and were using it as their family residence. At their invitation, the Roe Junction Baptist Church again used this building for their servic- es until their second church building was completed. Additional property has been purchased and addi- tions and renovations made periodically over the past one hundred and three years to meet the growing needs of the church. The Lord has richly blessed Roe Junction Baptist Church; it grew from a small church without electricity or restrooms to a beautiful brick church with Sunday School rooms, a baptistery, and a large fellowship hall. A cemetery was located behind the church in 1981. In 1999 a new sanctuary was built with a seating capacity of 300. The first service was held in the new sanctuary on our 5th Saturday night sing- ing, May 29, 1999. The first Vacation Bible School was held in June with twenty- seven professions of faith. With 2020 being the 100 year Anniversary, the church celebrated “100 years serv- ing the Lord 1920-2020” Special events were planned from the homecoming in August 2019 until home- coming August 16, 2020.
